Maureen Naidoo, Registered Psychologist


Maureen has many years of experience working in a range of settings. Since qualifying as a Psychologist she has worked within secondary care mental health services in both the medical environment and community services. She has extensive experience of providing therapy and advising on treatments for people with a range of mental health problems. This has included periods specialising in several areas including; treating people with depression and mood disorders including Bipolar Disorder, working with people with drug and alcohol addictions, complex and longstanding mental health problems including personality disorders, and treating Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).






She can offer skills and experience in working with adults with the following issues –

  • Anxiety problems including phobias, health anxiety, social anxiety and agoraphobia
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Trauma, including symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) following traumatic events or loss in adult life or related to childhood abuse or loss
  • Bereavement
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Addictions
  • Low Self Esteem
  • Domestic violence

Maureen’s training in the various frameworks enables her to draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and to tailor treatment to suit the needs of the individual. As such the therapy that she offers may be a brief or a longer-term intervention. Some of the models Maureen draws on include Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Person Centred therapy approaches and Clinical Hypnosis. She will also be able to offer clients Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) in May – as she completes this training. (this is an empirically tested therapy for treating trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.)

She likes to work collaboratively with clients and to identify an individual’s strengths in order to help people find the path through their difficulties and feel empowered. Her aim is to help you find ways to alleviate distress and maximize psychological wellbeing through a holistic approach.
